Welcome to THE NORTH Dryland Race 2024! Anticipating our second edition, this competition involves sled dog races that traverse the plains and landscapes of Hotel Rancho Sotolar, covering over three thousand hectares of natural area in Linares, Nuevo León, Mexico, approximately 16 km from the municipal center. Our speed route, with a 100-meter elevation change and a length of 5 kilometers, spans plains and wooded areas, capturing the essence of northern Mexico’s beauty. Available Modalities
“Registrations, now open, are available for teams from all over Mexico and North America with prior knowledge and practice in Mushing. All teams that complete the routes within the regulations set by the International Federation of Sleddog Sports will receive their commemorative medal for this edition. For supporters, there’s the opportunity to catch a glimpse of their teams at various points along the route.”
>> Our cancellation policy is as follows:
“Cancellations of registrations must be submitted in writing via email to lsander@canicross.mx from the same email address used in the registration form. Withdrawals will not be processed via phone, Messenger, Direct Message, or WhatsApp. Refunds of the paid entry fee will be processed to the bank account associated with the payment card used at the time of registration, under the following conditions:
– 40% of the paid registration fee will be refunded only before October 01, 2023, 24:00 hours.
– 30% of the paid registration fee will be refunded only before November 01, 2023, 24:00 hours.
– 20% of the paid registration fee will be refunded only before December 01, 2023, 24:00 hours.
– No refunds of paid registration fees will be processed after December 02, 2023, 24:00 hours.”

Requirements for Participation:
“For Individuals:
- Be 18 years of age or older, and provide a copy of an official ID.
- If under 18, have a signed authorization letter from legal guardians to participate.
- Sign a liability waiver.
- Agree to the race’s terms and conditions (sent and accepted on the website during registration payment).
- Possess the required equipment and sports knowledge.
For Dogs:
- Have up-to-date vaccination records with at least 35 days before the event.
- Be at least 18 months old by the time of the event.
- Have current deworming treatment. Recommendation: Use external deworming pipette 3 days prior to the race.”
Mandatory Equipment:
For Canicross:
- Hands-free waistbelt, at least 7 cm (2.75 inches) wide on the hips.
- 1.5m to 2.5m (4.92 to 8.2 feet) Bungee Line.
- Harness.
- Carabiner with Lock.
For Bikejoring, Scooter, and Rig:
- Harness.
- 2 to 3 meters (6.56 to 9.84 feet) extended Bungee Line.
- Helmet.
- Carabiner with Lock.
- Gloves (Optional).
- Additional protections (elbow pads, knee pads, chest protector) (Optional).
- Boots for dogs (Optional).

Camping:

- A 50% deposit will be requested to secure your reservation.
Shared Cabins:
- Make your registration payment.

- A 50% deposit will be requested to secure your reservation.
For Glamping, Hotel, and Shared Cabins, the deposit is made directly to Hotel Rancho Sotolar, and we are not responsible for their lodging cancellation policies.

How do I get to Hotel Rancho Sotolar from the metropolitan area of Nuevo León?
If you are coming from the metropolitan area of Nuevo León, Allende, or Montemorelos, follow Highway 85, which runs from North to South, for an approximate journey of one hour and forty-five minutes towards Linares. Before reaching the municipal center, at the entrance of the ‘Pueblo Mágico’, use the first marked turnaround. (You can take advantage of this to visit a convenience store and/or refuel your vehicle). From the turnaround point to the entrance, it’s 1.7 km (1.06 miles). Take a right turn, and you’ll enter the Ejido de Emiliano Zapata road. Within 11.7 kilometers (7.27 miles) on this paved road, you’ll reach Hotel Rancho Sotolar.”
